Life happened in the last three years, is the only excuse. Baking is my passion, but I also have a family, that I love very much. So in between running the kids to practice, PTA meetings, working a full time job, and the normal household stuff, I continued to bake and build the business, blogging became the thing that didn't need to be done.
In May of 2014, we decided to return home to Wisconsin for my husband's to take a job with his father in the family business, a big decision. The kids were born and raised in New Jersey. How would they take to the idea of a new house, a new town, a new school, leaving all their friends behind, the threat of snow much earlier in the year and for much later in the spring? The thought of packing up all the cake pans, boards, cookie cutters, and cake decorating supplies, not to mention the house had me nauseous. It only took us a few days to decide that it was the best decision in the long run to move back and be closer to our families and Rob's job security. I could bake anywhere, almost. :)
The thing about our decision is that all the preparation had to happen relatively quickly. We planned for an August move, so we could get the kids settled and registered for school before school started in September, we didn't want to move them in the middle of the year. On August 2, 2014, we made the move back, nearly 11 years to the date when we moved to New Jersey. I want to thank all the fans, supporters and guinea pigs in New Jersey who helped make my dream a reality. And to my Wisconsin family, friends, and fans, I look forward to the success of No Place Like Home Confections here in Wisconsin. Lastly, GO PACK GO!!
